La projection sera présentée par Christopher Goscha, professeur au département d’histoire de l’Université du Québec à Montréal et spécialiste d’histoire globale et des pays d’Asie, qui éclairera le contexte historique et cinématographique du film.

Ciné-Histoire presents: HARAKIRI by Masaki Kobayashi.

Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the 1963 Cannes Film Festival, Harakiri tells the story of a ronin who, following the collapse of his clan, visits the manor of Lord Iyi to request permission to commit ritual suicide on the property.

The screening will be introduced by Christopher Goscha, Professor in the Department of History at the Université du Québec à Montréal and specialist in global history and Asian studies, who will provide insights into the historical and cinematic context of the film.
